Google Cloud All Set To Strengthen Its Cybersecurity by Acquiring Mandiant For $5.4B
Business News News March 9th 2022Google was beefing about its cybersecurity issues lately. Hence, the company has now agreed to buy Mandiant, a pioneer in dynamic cybersecurity and response, for $23 per share that if converted in cash comes to worth $5.4 billion, which includes Mandiant’s cash. Mandiant is soon to join Google Cloud immediately after the completion of the transaction.
This acquisition is considered the first of many that analysts foresee in the cybersecurity sector following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Analysts and Government officials have claimed that they expect the wave of cyberattacks from Russia and others, as the geopolitical tensions are rising.
According to Google, most organizations are now taking serious actions for cybersecurity threats that have increased in frequency, intensity, and variety, resulting in a global security imperative. Enterprises now must be able to quickly detect and respond to threats, analyze and automate threat intelligence to scale threat detection across organizations, orchestrate and automate remediation. Organizations should be able to validate their protection against known threats, and also visualize their IT environment to identify and simulate any new threats in order to address these risks.
Google stated that the cloud would promise a new method to shift the security paradigm, by assisting enterprises in addressing and protecting themselves against any type and class of cyberattacks and simultaneously fast speeding the digital transformation.
The Mandiant acquisition would strengthen the Google Cloud’s existing security. Google Cloud clients now will be able to take advantage of a wide range of services that includes groundbreaking capabilities such as BeyondCorp Enterprise for Zero Trust and Virus Total for malicious content and also software vulnerabilities, Chronicle’s planet-scale security analytics, and automation with services like Security Command Center in order to help organizations detect and protect themselves from cyber-attacks and Google Cloud’s Cybersecurity action Team expertise.
By acquiring Mandiant, Google Cloud would be able to provide a complete security operations suite with more features that will help clients in both cloud and on-premises settings.
Thomas Kurian, CEO at Google Cloud said, “organizations around the world are now facing unavoidable cybersecurity threats and challenges. Previously, the severity of attacks was used to target major governments, but now they are targeting companies from every industry. He further added we are extremely happy to welcome Mandiant to Google Cloud to further enhance our security operations suite and advisory services, and also to help our customers to address their most important security challenges”.
