Business News News February 25th 2022IBM announces Big Blue partnership with Honeywell’s Quantum computing venture. The IT giant invested in Quantinuum, the quantum computing firm formed by Honeywell and Cambridge Quantum Computing.
This week, Quantum announced its agreement with IBM to expand the IBM Quantum Hub along with Cambridge Quantum Computing Limited. The agreement will provide access to the client to IBM’s quantum computing systems, including IBM’s recently announced 127 qubit processor, “Eagle”, as well as to IBM’s quantum expertise and the open-source quantum development kit Qiskit. This will help to drive and develop the quantum ecosystem.
IBM ventures strongly supported IBM’s investment in Quantinuum.
Ilyas Khan, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Quantinuum said, “We are very excited to expand the access to IBM Quantum hardware and Qiskit. This will provide our clients with all the solutions developed for state-of-the-art quantum computing hardware”.
He further added that the company continues to utilize a broad range of quantum processors including IBM, as they are the leaders of the superconducting quantum computers, which is a vital part of the growth in the capabilities of quantum computers. IBM has always been a great advocate to the company regarding the creation of a growing quantum ecosystem as well as an early investor in Cambridge Quantum and now Quantinuum. The company is hopeful and looks forward to opening up a wide range of possibilities to further advance quantum computing industry applications.
The monetary details about IBM’s investment in Quantinuum have not yet been disclosed.
Two Leaders – Honeywell Quantum Solutions and Cambridge Quantum Alliance
Quantum is an outcome of the alliance of two worldwide leaders in the quantum computing ecosystem: Honeywell Quantum Solutions and Cambridge Quantum.
